No Follow Is a No-Win for PageRank Sculpting Posted: 01 Jun 2011 10:00 AM PDT It’s been a few years since Google announced that you can’t send more link juice to one link on a web page by marking all the other links NoFollow – a practice that’s known as PageRank sculpting. Still, people talk about it in forums and blog comments, and spend fruitless energy on selectively no-following links on their websites. We put this myth to rest, and explain the proper use of the NoFollow attribute, in our new article, No Follow Links Don’t Help PageRank or SEO. Most websites should make little – if any – use of the NoFollow attribute (which you’ll notice we CamelCase for easier reading). We do follow links in good content contributed by AboutUs members. If you edit your site’s Website Profile – or the profile for another site you know well – and add good information for AboutUs visitors, we’ll follow the links after an editorial review. Read our DoFollow policy for more information. If you find No Follow Links Don’t Help PageRank or SEO valuable, you may want to check out the rest of our Learn section. That’s where we publish articles on search engine optimization, plus Internet marketing topics such as PPC advertising, local marketing and using social media to promote your business. |
